It is also a skillet, fry pan, and saute pan- this great little pan could quickly become your most versatile, most used pan. If you are making an omelette, 3 eggs will fit perfectly in the pan. The heavy gauge hard anodized aluminum construction guarantees great even heating throughout. I just reviewed this pan in the 8" size. Both were replacements for identical pans purchased about 7 years ago. We found that the non-stick surface eventually began to show wear and started to flake, but then again, it lasted longer than most other non-stick pans we've purchased in the past. Remember to use non-metal utinsels and always hand wash. All in all, a good piece of cookware.

I have bought several of these pans. I really like the weight and the balanced feel of the pans. They do an excellent job of cooking; however, you must be very careful with them. If you do anything like put cold water in them to soak while they are still hot (which they warn you) or don't clean them well enough and reuse, you will have problems for the rest of the life of the pan. I am disappointed they are so "tempermental". I have tried to be careful (never put it in the dishwasher, used plastic utensils, etc). If you follow the directions to the letter, you will like them, but beware that you will have problems if you don't follow their warnings perfectly. Food now sticks to the pans. I feel for the money, they should have lasted longer. I have only had them a year or two.

I have had this saute pan for about 5-years and it is one of my favorites because of convenient size and even heating. It has been the first pan I turn to when cooking anything larger than 2 qts. HOWEVER, putting it in the dishwasher voids the warranty. Despite my efforts to instill the "handwash only" mantra in family members, it inevitably ended up in the dishwasher a few times. Last week, MIL helped clean up...I pulled it our of the dishwasher and found that the non-stick coating was peeling from the rim. I tried to use it but ended up throwing out the dish because I found that little pieces of the non-stick coating had flaked off into the sauce. Although 5 years is a long time, it was not a very good value considering the high cost. If you have a dishwasher in your home, I recommend the All-Clad "Stainless" collection without non-stick surface (the only series All-Clad has that is dishwasher safe). If you need non-stick I recommend a cheapo like Anolon Titanium. Just because you handwash does not mean that well-meaning friends/family won't accidentally stick in your dishwasher and ruin it.

As a professional chef, I am bound to use only NSA certified pots and pans in my kitchen, However about a year ago I purchased this entire set of Hard Anodized cookware for use in my home kitchen. For the price I could not have purchased a better quality set. I use them every day and they are oven tested to 450 Degrees. They heat evenly, the non-stick surface does not come off in the wash water, and I have dropped the glass covers onto hard surfaces on several occasions and still have yet to break one. This is a good price for this single pan, I paid close to $1000.00 for the 17 piece set

I have the 2 1/2 quart Cuisinart saute pan and I thought this would be the same. The smaller pan has the same metal thickness on the bottom and sides. This one has the thick bottom but thinner sides. I prefer the uniform thickness. Pans with thin sides tend to burn/stain if you are cooking something dry at high temperatures. They are ok if there is lot's of liquid. I use this pan for things that have some cooking liquid so it works ok. The price was very good.

I bought the 5 quart version of the Cuisinart Hard-Anodized nonstick 4 yeas ago through Amazon and after dozens upon dozens of uses, I can say I am glad to have it! The pan is large and the bottom extends out far beyond the direct flame of a gas burner, but I have never noticed an instance of a lack of even heating. Sure, the edges are a touch less hot so far from the center, but it's even throughout. Aside from the size, what I like about this product is the top notch quality of the non-stick surface, which Cuisinart calls Quantanium. I'm not a chemist, but it seems much more durable than you average, run-of-the-mill teflon coated pan. It's worth paying a little extra for this quality of nonstick. I'm looking forward to many more years of dependable use from this pan, and I'm sure I'll get it.

A friend had used a metal utensil and damaged the non-stick finish, and long use had rendered it less non-stick anyway. I went to the Calphalon website and researched more. I not only got all the info on the pan, but I got educated in how to use it. I have been using my cookware the wrong way. I didn't pre-heat the pan as directed. I used spray oil and found out I shouldn't. Wow! Did I feel stupid! Needless to say, I purchased this pan and it is everything I had hoped for. It's beautiful in design. It's strong and substantial. It's nonstick when you use it as directed (duh!) and it cleans up like a breeze. I bought this thinking I would get a quality piece that would serve me well.

HA! Less than a year later the base had warped for some reason despite my taking care not to abuse it.

About a year into it, the "nonstick" feature started to fail. I babied this pan and got nothing in return.

I sincerely doubt I will buy Calphalon ever again.

Save your money. Don't bother.

What a great pan! I bought it to replace the skillet that came with my set and I'm so glad I spent the money. This thing is versatile. I can make stir frys, omelets, grilled cheese, and I've even made a casserole on the cooktop with it. The very best thing is that it cleans up very easily. I am now working on replacing all of my cookware with Calphalon products.

Pan works ok, very large and heat does not conduct well. Lid is awkward, handle sticks up too high to stack. Overall not a bad pan for the money.
